Information Seminars Will Be Held Next Week in Toms River and Brigantine

TRENTON, NJ – The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Sandy Recovery Division will host two information seminars next week specifically for home contractors that are working with homeowners who are still in construction in the Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) Program and the Low- to Moderate-Income (LMI) Homeowners Rebuilding Program.

The information seminars will be held:

  • Monday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Township Council Room at the Toms River Municipal Building, 33 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ  08753, and
  • Wednesday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Brigantine Beach Community Center, 265 42nd Street, Brigantine, NJ  08203.

Seminar instructors will provide home contractors with updates on the revised payment process and discuss the scope of work adjustment process, construction completion, and required documentation for project closeout. Instructors will also go over the Supplemental Fund, which will allow homeowners in the RREM Program and the LMI Program who have yet to complete construction to apply for more funding to finish their project. DCA plans to make applications for the Supplemental Fund available in late June.

Homeowners in the RREM Program and the LMI Program are encouraged to notify their contractors of the upcoming seminars so that their contractors have the most up-to-date information about the programs.

DCA’s Sandy Recovery Division will hold two outreach sessions about the Supplemental Fund in June for homeowners in the RREM Program and the LMI Program.

The Sandy Recovery Division has previously hosted five evening and weekend outreach sessions about the Supplemental Fund in March to packed rooms in communities such as Atlantic City, Brick, Little Ferry, Toms River, and Union Beach. Information about the Supplemental Fund has been provided via direct phone calls and emails to every homeowner in the RREM Program and the LMI Program who is still rebuilding and who may be eligible for supplemental funding.

DCA offers a wide range of programs and services, including energy assistance, housing vouchers, affordable housing production, fire and building safety, community planning and development, local government management and finance, and disaster recovery.
