The Office of Training and Professional Development (OTPD) provides the Department of Children and Families (DCF) workforce with learning experiences that support their job functions and carry out DCF’s vision that all New Jersey residents are safe, healthy, and connected.

This is accomplished by:

  1. Offering relevant learning experiences that use a variety of training modalities that are stakeholder driven, research informed, consider current practice trends, address cross department needs, and align with DCF values and core approaches.

  2. Partnering with DCF operations and other key external stakeholders to continuously measure performance and competencies that ensure the transfer of learning objectives and behavior change.

  3. Overseeing the operations of the Professional Center and Learning Management System to promote optimal learning experiences and streamlined processes for training enrollment, attendance, on-demand learning and to develop learning pathways.

The OTPD carries out this work by:

  • Approaching learning, development, and reflective practice as a life-long journey that continuously unlocks the full potential of every DCF learner.

  • Offering learning and development experiences that are innovative, evidence supported, dynamic, responsive and supportive of DCF’s transformation.

  • Forging collaborations and partnerships that model a strong community built on teamwork, respect, equity and integrity.

  • Providing and maintaining a positive customer service experience for all stakeholders.

  • Requiring an approach and deliverables to be strategically-coordinated, stakeholder informed, clear, and timely.

  • Communicating consistently, timely, and transparently.
