The data layers below were created by the Climate Change, Clean Energy & Sustainability Element (CCCES) and are updated on a regular basis as new information is obtained. Clicking a data layer will redirect to the NJ Office of GIS Open Data Portal where more information can be found, as well as download instructions.

Alternative Fueled Vehicle Fueling Stations in NJ

The data contained within this layer represents all of the public and private fueling stations for alternative fueled vehicles in the State, downloaded from the US Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center (http://www.afdc.energy.gov/). The fueling stations shown include Biodiesel, Compressed Natural Gas, Ethanol, Electric, and Propane.

    Community Solar Projects

This dataset was developed to support the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and their Community Solar Pilot Program. It currently represents the project location and project details of the 148 projects approved under Program Year 1 and Program Year 2 of the Community Solar Pilot Program.

Solar PV Installations by County in NJ

This data within this layer includes the quantity and installed capacity of solar installations in each of New Jersey's counties. The quantity and installed capacity in each county is also broken out by installation type (i.e. residential, non-residential, and gird supply).

    Solar PV at Public Facilities

The data contained in this layer identifies all public solar installations in the State, as reported by the NJBPU and their Energy Market Managers, AEG. Public facilities include: Government Facilities, Public Schools, Public Colleges/Universities, and other public-school facilities.

    Solar PV Grid Supply Installations

The data contained within this layer represents information acquired from the New Jersey Clean Energy Program's Solar Activity Report (http://www.njcleanenergy.com/renewable-energy/project-activity-reports/project-activity-reports). The boundaries were calculated using a combination of 2015 ortho imagery and oblique aerial imagery using Pictometry.

Solar PV Behind the Meter Installations Greater than 1 Megawatt (MW)

The data contained within this layer represents the location and boundaries of solar PV installations that are classified as “behind the meter” and are greater than 1 MW in capacity. This information was acquired from the New Jersey Clean Energy Program's Solar Activity Report (http://www.njcleanenergy.com/renewable-energy/project-activity-reports/project-activity-reports). The boundaries were calculated and drawn using a combination of 2015 ortho imagery and oblique aerial imagery using Pictometry.

    Solar Siting Analysis

This analysis identifies where the Department would encourage solar installations from those where the Department would discourage solar installations, based on their land use and characteristics. Areas in the state are either designated as “Preferred”, “Not-Preferred”, or “Indeterminate” for siting solar based on their Anderson Code classifications for LULC. Clicking the link above will launch a download of a data table that can be joined to the 2012 LULC data layer in ArcMap to view the SSA.
