“STEAM in Brownfields” is a program that will introduce high school and middle school students to brownfields through science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) curriculum. The initiative will use the historic Hinchliffe Stadium as a teaching tool to introduce how STEAM can be used to bring this once vibrant, Negro League baseball stadium back to life. Elected officials, environmental professionals, and academia will bring their knowledge and expertise to the students so that the scope of the program shows how brownfield redevelopment and community-based revitalization can occur. CCI is partnering with USEPA to pilot the semester-long STEAM-based program in Paterson, which will then be rolled out nationwide.
