“Clean Vehicle List” as Guidance for New Car Buyers

As a motorist and a consumer, you can help reduce air pollution!

When you purchase a new vehicle, you can make a choice that improves our air quality and global climate.  The “Clean Vehicle List” contains the makes and models of vehicles that are considered the cleanest for each model year, along with information on their fuel types, total range, fuel economy, size class, and federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) air pollution and greenhouse gas scores.

Click here to see our Clean Vehicle Lists by model year:

Currently, the cleanest vehicles are electric vehicles (EVs) that are powered by fuel cell, battery, or a combination of battery and gasoline (i.e., plug-in hybrid).  To learn more about the different kinds of EVs and how they operate, visit our webpage here:

As more people make informed decisions when selecting a new vehicle, all of us will breathe cleaner air.

New Jersey's Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Sales Tax Exemption

Legislation enacted in New Jersey in January 2004 provides a sales tax exemption for zero emission vehicles (ZEVs), which are battery-powered or fuel-cell powered vehicles certified pursuant to the California Air Resources Board zero emission standards for the model year.
