Bureau of Environmental Engineering and Permitting (BEEP)
Bureau of Environmental Engineering and Permitting (BEEP) has overall engineering (planning and design) responsibility for ensuring all projects
meet the requirements of the Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program (EIFP) and various State-only programs.
The bureau also performs environmental and cultural resource impact assessments for the planning and design of projects pursuing financing under any of the programs
administered by the Municipal Finance and Construction Element.
The Treatment Works Approval (TWA) Section of this bureau regulates the construction and operation of industrial and domestic wastewater collection, conveyance and treatment facilities, including treatment plants, pumping stations, interceptors, sewer mains and other collection, holding and conveyance systems. The program is aimed at protecting the waters of the state by preventing the entry of increased pollutants from inadequate facilities.
