Division of Waste Enforcement, Pesticides and Release Prevention
The Division of Waste Enforcement, Pesticides, and Release Prevention includes five Bureaus that monitor compliance statewide. Those Bureaus, and their respective specialized units, include the following:
Hazardous Waste Compliance and Enforcement - Enforces the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and for conducting roadside inspections of hazardous waste haulers, among other duties.
Licensing and Registrations - Administers exams and licenses for the following: Pesticides Applicators/Operators and Underground Storage Tank Certification. Also registers all pesticide products.
Pesticides Compliance - Performs routine inspections and compliance assistance involving the regulation of pesticide use, sale, distribution, and manufacture in the State of New Jersey.
Release Prevention -Works to protect public health and the environment by preventing incidents before they occur. Three focus areas carry out the Bureau's work: Toxic Catastrophe Prevention Act (TCPA) Program, Discharge Prevention Program, and Security.
Solid Waste Compliance and Enforcement - Undertakes compliance and enforcement activities to ensure that solid waste is collected, transported and disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner and in a competitive marketplace.
UST Compliance and Enforcement - Inspects Underground Storage Tanks within the state and enforces UST regulations.
