BEFORE TAKING PESTICIDE
CERTIFICATION EXAMS...
CORE EXAM - You must complete a Basic
Pesticide Training Course before taking the Core Certification
exam. (See the enclosed list of courses.) Contact the course
coordinator on the list and arrange to attend the course. Send
a copy of the course attendance certificate along with the completed
exam application form to this office in the enclosed envelope.
CATEGORY EXAM -You must do one of the following
prior to taking Category Certification exams:
1. Complete 40 hours of category specific
on-the-job-training. Refer to the NJ Pesticide Control Regulations
NJAC 7:30 - 6.2 for a complete description of the training requirements
(see above web site). The 40 hours of on-the-job-training
is required only if it is available to you. (See option
2 below if it is not available to you.) Complete and attach
the "Category Training Verification Form" to the exam
application form and return to this office.
2. If 40 hours of on-the-job-training is
not available, you must do one of the following:
- Complete a Department approved Category
3A, 3B, 7A, 7B Training Course. Courses are only available
for categories 3A, 3B, 7A and 7B. Please see attached schedules
and contacts for these courses. Attach a copy of the course
attendance form to the exam application form and return to
this office. This requirement will be effective on June 1,
2003.
- Complete the enclosed Category
Training Verification Form - (For categories other
than 3A, 3B, 7A and 7B.) Complete the form indicating that
40 hours of on-the-job training is not available to you. State
the reason why it is not available on the form. Attach a copy
of the completed form to the exam application form and return
to this office.
- Sign the enclosed Affidavit - By signing you are verifying that you have at least one
year of work experience for each category you are applying
for. You must be able to provide proof of this work experience
to enforcement inspectors when requested. Proof of work experience
may consist of, but is not limited to, records of pesticide
applications performed by you. Attach the completed affidavit
to the exam application form and return to this office.
NOTE: You must send in the required training
forms and/or affidavit with the exam application. Exam applications
received without the required forms will be returned.
