This Federal office provides guidance on prevention of chemical emergencies, preparation and response to environmental crises, and distribution of information to the public.
· OSHA Process Safety Management
This Federal program addresses management of highly hazardous chemicals and related processes pursuant to 29 CFR 1910.119.
· Chemical Safety Board (CSB)
The Chemical Safety Board conducts root-cause investigations of chemical accidents at industrial facilities, and makes recommendations to prevent their recurrence. Documents and videos available from the CSB web site describe the Board’s findings in the aftermath of the most serious chemical safety disasters in the nation.

Hot work permits must document that the OSHA requirements of 29 CFR 1910.252(a) have been implemented, pursuant to 40 CFR 98.85(b).
