On
Sunday, July 23, 2006 at 9:50am, Wielslaw Aelasko of Lakewood,
NJ, caught a 39-inch long carp that had a girth of 30 inches.
It was pulled from Oakford Lake, New Egypt (Ocean County) using
24-lb test Spiderwire line off a Shakespeare Axiom reel on a
7-foot rod.
Power
Bait Corn bait dip lured the big carp to the hook. The fish weighed
43 lbs., 9 oz. - just 3 lbs. 7oz. shy of the current
state record (taken in the South Branch of the Raritan River
in 1995).
