The Deer Classic is an annual event showcasing hunter entries in New Jerseys Outstanding White-tailed Deer Program, which was initiated by the Division of Fish and Wildlife in 1964.
On Sunday, January 11, 2004, a standing room only crowd was on hand for the special awards program held at the 15th Annual Garden State Deer Classic for the top three 2002-2003 entries in each category (full list). The 2004 Deer Classic was sponsored by the New Jersey State Federation of Sportsmens Clubs and the United Bowhunters of New Jersey.
Along with the winners, appearing in the photos on this page are, left to right, Larry Lehman, President of NJSFSC, Division Director Marty McHugh and Jack Spoto, President of UBNJ.
