Notes:
Most of the hemisphere’s red knots and godwits winter in Bahia Lomas in Chile. Lomas has an unusually small tidal range with many areas flooding only a few inches deep at high tide, even though there is a 30 ft tide flow in the adjacent Straits of Magellan. In our first survey we found 46,000 red knots on the bay.
