Claim Awarded Turkey Permits By Monday, March 23 Deadline |
|
March 16, 2015
Hunters who were awarded Spring Turkey Hunting Permits have until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 23 to claim their awarded permits. Those who applied for permits through the lottery should have received notification of their results in the lottery. The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife reminds applicants who did not receive an e-mail or postcard notification that they can check if they were successful in obtaining a permit through the online license and permit website.
Awarded permits that remain unclaimed after 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 23 will become available via over-the-counter sale. All leftover and unclaimed permits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30.
Leftover permits can be purchased at license agents and/or via the license website. Permits will be available as long as the permit supply lasts or the season ends. Permits purchased online (additional charges apply) cannot be printed at home; they are mailed which can take 7 - 10 business days.
Beginning March 27, an up-to-date chart of all leftover permits will be available at https://nj.aspirafocus.com/internetsales/Home/AvailablePermits.
Many of the more popular area and period combinations sold out in the lottery, and depending upon how many awarded permits are claimed, they may not be available for over the counter sales. These include:
12A, 12B, 12E
14A, 14B, 14C, 14D, 14E
15A, 15B, 15E
16A, 16B, 16E
20A, 20E
21A, 21E
22A, 22B, 22D, 22E
Some permits for the above area/periods may be available on March 30; the number is dependent upon how many permits are not claimed. Hunters who were hoping to obtain permits for these area/period combinations are urged to remember to apply during the lottery next year.
