The Division of Fish and Wildlife Farm Lease Program allows farmers to bid for land on New Jersey wildlife management areas for the purpose of grain crop production. For reduced rent, farm lease tenants can perform "in-kind services." In-kind services are developed by Division biologists and performed by tenants annually to benefit New Jersey wildlife and wildlife-related recreation. In-kind services involve a range of management practices, including invasive species control and habitat creation by planting various seed mixtures. Seed mixtures planted as a part of the in-kind services were developed to benefit a variety of New Jersey wildlife, including game, non-game, and threatened and endangered species.
The Department of Environmental Protection will be conducting three regional public auctions for Farm Lease Agreements on properties managed by the State Park Service or the Division of Fish and Wildlife. The auctions are open to all interested farmers seeking to lease offered parcels for farming. For bidder registration information and information on the individual properties being offered and to review draft lease agreements visit: https://www.njparksandforests.org/parks/business_ops/current_leases.htm
