Following is the original announcement regarding permits. Please refer to the list above for available permits.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife will offer leftover turkey permits at selected Division offices throughout the state beginning Saturday, April 5, 2003. This special over-the-counter sale will enable hunters who did not apply for a permit, were not selected in the lottery, or who wish to obtain an extra permit an opportunity to do so.
Leftover spring season permits will go on sale Saturday, April 5, 2003 between 9 a.m. and 12 noon at five Division field offices. In addition and as long as the supply lasts, leftover permits will be sold Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 12 noon and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at five Division field offices and the Trenton office beginning Monday, April 7, 2003. Persons interested in purchasing an unclaimed permit must bring their 2003 hunting license and cash or check for $21 (for each adult permit) or $12 (for each youth permit).
Hunters need not be present to purchase permits over-the-counter. A person may purchase a permit for a hunter who is unable to attend the over-the-counter sale if they have the absent hunter's valid hunting license. However, a hunter on line is limited to purchasing permits for a maximum of three individuals. Photocopies of licenses are not acceptable.
Beginning Saturday, April 5, the following zones are available over-the-counter at the Pequest, Northern Region, Central Region, Southern Region and Nacote Creek Offices. (Note that any leftovers will continue to be available on Monday, April 7 and thereafter for as long as the supply lasts. They will also be available at the Trenton Office beginning Monday, April 7.)
