The Public Use Airports database is a geographic point database of aircraft landing facilities in the United States and U.S. Territories. Attribute data is provided on the physical and operational characteristics of the landing facility, current usage including enplanements and aircraft operations, congestion levels and usage categories. There are 19755 airport landing facilities in this dataset. This geospatial data is derived from the FAA's National Airspace System Resource Aeronautical Data Product (Effective 21 February 2002).
Airports for NJ were reselected out for NJ DEP use.
NJDEP checked these sites against other GIS data layers and 1995/97 DOQQ color IR and made minor spatial corrections to point position.
Airports were spatially corrected by NJDEP as appropriate.
This data layer was downloaded from the BTS web site for internal use. NJDEP spatially corrected airports point locations as needed.
