DEP TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING ON PROPOSED DRAFT
SEWER SERVICE AREA MAP IN WARREN COUNTY

(11/P47) TRENTON - The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public meeting tomorrow, April 6, to discuss the DEP's draft sewer service area map for Warren County as part of a planning effort to update the Wastewater Management Plan.

At issue will be a service area covering the following Warren County municipalities located outside the Highlands Preservation and Planning Areas: Hardwick, Blairstown and Knowlton.

The meeting also will discuss the sewer service area map covering those portions of Harmony, White, Oxford, Liberty, Independence, Franklin and Hackettstown that are not within the Highlands Preservation Area.

The following municipalities, which are completely within the Highlands Planning Area, also will be discussed at the meeting: Belvidere, Frelinghuysen, Washington Borough and Hope.

The map to be considered tomorrow is a preliminary working draft, developed by DEP. It reflects proposed changes in wastewater service area designations to eliminate conflicts with Category One waters, wetlands, threatened and endangered species habitats and other unique and rare ecological communities.

The draft is subject to change in response to information provided by the public. The preliminary working draft map can be viewed at: http://www.nj.gov/dep/watershedmgt/DOCS/20110406warren_map.pdf

The meeting will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the Pohatcong Municipal Court, 50 Municipal Drive in Pohatcong Township.

The DEP will accept comments and information related to the maps from the date of the public notice posting until May 6, which is 30 days after the public meeting.
