MEDIA ADVISORY

The state Department of Environmental Protection’s annual Adopt-A-Beach spring clean-up is scheduled for SATURDAY MORNING, APRIL 21, at beachfront communities all along the New Jersey coast.

Local groups, families, organizations, businesses and individuals will comb the beaches that morning to remove litter and other debris that threaten water quality and harm marine life.

Last year, volunteers removed 65,000 items from the state’s shoreline. Of all the debris collected since the Adopt-A-Beach program began nine years ago, plastics and cigarette butts account for most of the litter.

For more information, call 1-609-29-BEACH (1-609-292-3224).

NOTE: MOST CLEAN-UPS WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M.
