DEP COMMISSIONER BRADLEY
M. CAMPBELL ANNOUNCES FIRST REGIONAL DROUGHT WORKSHOP
(02/24) Trenton, NJ --- New Jersey Department
of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Bradley
M. Campbell announced the first of six drought informational
workshops to be held in each of the state's drought regions.
The first in the series will be held in Atlantic County
(southern coastal region) on Thursday, April 18.
"In order to make sound decisions
about the impacts of the drought on you and your communities
we need to talk to you," said Bradley M. Campbell,
Commissioner. "We need strong dialogue between all
levels of government and interested parties not only on
how best to manage the current drought but also to develop
long-term strategies to protect and preserve the state's
water resources into the future."
The state's severe drought emergency continues
despite voluntary and mandatory water conservation measures
being taken by residents, businesses and industry. March
brought some welcome rain - seven separate episodes - bringing
only average precipitation to the state, which did not erase
the deficit.
The workshop will be held at The Richard
Stockton College of New Jersey, Upper G Wing Lounge from
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. For future workshop dates and locations,
go to the drought web-site at www.njdrought.org.
