Preserve Info

89 Acres - conservation easement
47 Acres - fee ownership

Considered the last remaining active farm along this section of the lower Delaware River between Camden and Trenton, The Taylor River Side Homestead Farm continues to grow organic produce, support community gardening, and share the natural world with all. The Taylor’s were the first donors to recognize how the unique mission of the New Jersey Natural Lands Trust could give legal protection to their family farm for future generations. In 1975 the Taylor family donated a conservation easement on 89 acres of the family lands to the Trust. This was the very first land protection project for the Trust. Today, after more then 30 years, the Taylor’s still till the rich farm soils and neighbors and friends enjoy the natural surroundings. In an effort to bring habitat protection to additional acres that surround the farm, the Friends of Taylor Wildlife Preserve was founded. With this group’s help, 47 acres were purchased by the Green Acres Program and added to the Preserve.

Public Access and Uses

The system of hiking trails at the farm has been created and is maintained through the volunteer efforts of the non-profit Friends group. A designated parking site and historical and ecological interpretive signs make visitors feel welcome. Hunting is not permitted at this preserve.
