The New Jersey Real Estate Commission (REC) issues licenses to real estate brokers and salespersons, real estate schools, and course instructors, as well as establishes standards of practice for the real estate brokerage profession.
The law in New Jersey requires all applicants for licensure as a real estate salesperson or broker to possess good character, trustworthiness, honesty and integrity. |

| 2023-2025 License Cycle: License Renewal |
The next license renewal is in 2025. The late CE processing fee deadline is April 30, 2025, and the Licensing Renewal Cycle deadline is June 30, 2025. All licensees (except Salespersons Referral) should check to ensure compliance with CE when the renewal system opens. CE credits completed on the eve of the renewal deadline will not be uploaded into the CE tracking system fast enough to allow for timely license renewal.
Continue to check the website frequently for details and updates. Verify that your contact information on file with the Real Estate Commission is current to receive renewal correspondence and updates by accessing your menu in the Online Licensing System and using the “Update your contact information” function.
- If license renewal is not completed by June 30, 2025, the license will become inactive.
- Breakdown of Required CE Hours
- If your license expired on June 30, 2023 you have until June 30, 2025 to reinstate

| Important Licensee Information Regarding Housing Discrimination Laws |
Acting Attorney General Andrew J. Bruck has updated the Letter to Property Owners concerning housing discrimination. It is required by N.J.A.C. 11:5-6.4(j) that real estate licensees supply a property owner with this letter, when accepting a listing of property for sale or rental.
