A Deep Dive on Supporting Student Engagement: Lessons Beyond the Pandemic
On February 24, 2021, the Regional Educational Laboratories (REL) Mid-Atlantic and the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) provided a webinar that highlighted promising practices for supporting student engagement in remote and hybrid learning environments. The REL's research identified six factors related to student engagement: instructional delivery, technology access and use, staffing and professional development, family engagement, extracurricular activities, and social-emotional learning. The webinar concluded with lessons learned that can enhance pedagogy beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
The NJDOE invites educators, instructional leaders, administrators, extracurricular advisors, school counselors, and other relevant staff to a webinar series that will dive deeper into each of the six factors to extract, explore, and implement strategies from the lessons learned from the REL’s research.
Each webinar in the series will focus on one specific factor and allow participants to collaborate, share, and learn about various resources and approaches that best impact student engagement. The goal is for attendees to come away with actionable approaches towards enhancing the learning experiences of students within each of the six factors related to student engagement.
