The Chesterfield School District, located in a rural area of northern Burlington County, provides outstanding educational programs and opportunities to children in pre-kindergarten through grade 6. Our students continue the rich traditions of educational excellence, community pride and civic involvement. The school district had an enrollment of 348 students as recently as 2006. Since then we have doubled in size. Enrollment in September 2013 was 690, and we are still growing. In response to this growth, the district opened a new, state-of-the-art school in January 2011. Our new school, on Saddle Way, is in the heart of the “village,” the new development in the community. Many students now walk or bike to school, and the new school is fully utilized by families for recreational activities after school hours. We have benefited from the richness that our new students and families, from diverse backgrounds, bring to our school.
The Chesterfield education community is committed to the health, safety and well-being of our students as we provide them with challenging educational opportunities. Every classroom is equipped with an interactive white board, document camera and a sound amplification system for amplification of the teacher’s voice, as well as audio accompaniment to multi-media resources. Character education traits are integrated through our school programs on a daily basis. Our Character Education Committee is an active participant in planning and running programs, such as peer mediation, character education themes with daily student announcements emphasizing positive character traits, and occasional assemblies. Bully-prevention is taught on an ongoing basis with an emphasis on developing and maintaining positive behavioral supports and a positive school culture. We also celebrate our farming heritage with an educational and productive school garden where we grow and enjoy a wide variety of vegetables each year.

The Chesterfield Board of Education integrates the resources of home, school and community in a mutual effort to guide each pupil’s growth towards becoming a confident learner who can contribute meaningfully in a democratic society. Cooperative efforts with our Parent Teacher Association, the Chesterfield Public Educational Fund, and our parent Volunteer Involvement Program promote a school that provides children with an array of in-school and extra-curricular activities that foster a comprehensive educational program.

Our objective is to develop life-long learners, so that our students will be prepared for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment in our modern economy. The district provides students with experiences that promote higher-level thinking and information processing that model citizenship and service and that promote responsibility to self, family, community, and school. Guided by outstanding teachers and supported by a caring, involved community, Chesterfield School District’s children are well-prepared to excel in middle level and high school programs and continue that excellence throughout life.
