Chesterfield Township School District
The Chesterfield Township School District houses approximately 750 students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade six. Located in northern Burlington County, the Chesterfield Township School District enjoys a rich tradition of educational excellence and community pride. As the population of Chesterfield Township grows, our school’s enrollment has also grown. Our student enrollment has almost doubled in the past five years. The Chesterfield Township School District is ranked among the fastest growing districts in the state of New Jersey. In response to this rapid growth, the district opened a new, state-of-the-art school in January 2011. The school, on Saddle Way, is the heart of the “village”, the new development in the community. Many of our students walk or ride their bikes to school, and the new school is fully utilized by families for recreational activities after school hours.

The students of Chesterfield Elementary School receive direct instruction in all content areas. Our programs are student-centered and focus on building content knowledge, fostering literacy and math sense, developing autonomy, enhancing self-esteem, guiding effective decision making, facilitating creative and critical thinking, and promoting meaningful interpersonal relationships. Our instructional programs provide challenging and differentiated learning opportunities through the workshop model as well as other instructional methodologies that promote the ability for each child to work at his/her own level and pace. In addition to the core subject areas, students participate in instruction in art, music, library, physical education, health, computer technology and world language. Our staff works collaboratively to enrich and challenge our students in a variety of learning opportunities in which technology is integrated across the curriculum as we teach 21st century learners.

The curriculum at Chesterfield Elementary School is designed to reach all children. For those students who require additional support, our school offers a basic skills program in literacy and math. Chesterfield Elementary School also provides excellent comprehensive special education programs and services to meet every student’s individual educational needs. For those students with special talents and abilities, the school offers a gifted and talented program as well as an instrumental music program.

Professional development is an area of focus in Chesterfield, as we recognize that the greatest single factor affecting student learning is the classroom teacher. We strive to provide our staff members with job-embedded, collaborative opportunities to grow together as educators. They participate in professional learning communities, articulate across grade levels, and network with their counterparts in other school districts. Our teachers are also provided with venues to analyze data from common assessments in order to discover trends and plan future instruction. We are fortunate to have a wealth of expertise within our own district, and the professionalism and quality of our staff is one of our greatest assets.

Another key factor in our district’s success is the strong partnership that exists with our students’ families. Our PTA and CPEF (Chesterfield Public Education Fund) provide vital support in a number of ways. Their financial contributions have enabled the district to continue to provide enriching learning opportunities to our students. Through these groups, we are able to host special events, provide assemblies, plan after school clubs and other learning opportunities that would not be possible otherwise. Through our VIP (Volunteer Involvement Program), community volunteers lend their time and talent to the classroom and school to benefit both teachers and students. As the bridge that joins home and school, their contributions are immeasurable.

Our objective is to develop life-long learners, so that our students will be prepared for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment in our modern economy. We provide students with experiences that promote higher-level thinking and information processing, that model citizenship and service, and that promote responsibility to self, family, community, and school. Guided by outstanding teachers and supported by a caring, involved community, Chesterfield Township School District’s children are well-prepared to excel in middle and high school programs.
