Our District Goals for the 2015-16 support the goals established by the Lakeland Regional High School Board of Education. There are three highlighted areas that the Board of Education feels are important to address this year: expanding educational opportunities for all students, maximizing facility utilization, and enhancing communication between Lakeland Regional and the two sending districts of Wanaque and Ringwood. All building level goals reflect these goals.
Our first District Goal focuses on expanding academic and non-academic offerings for all students based on student interests. Lakeland offers a wide array of course offerings. We are planning to expand these offerings based on student interests as we continue our partnership with Morris County Vocational and Technology School and Passaic County Community College so that we can extend offerings in trades and skills to students who may wish to pursue that avenue of learning. Our belief in offering "blended learning" enrichment opportunities through online options is available for students with special academic interests.
Expanding our highly successful school-to-work internship opportunities for all students is another goal that will continue to develop during the 2015-16 school year. Students will have the opportunity to work and intern in a variety of businesses to help better prepare them to make the right career choices upon graduation from high school.
By providing an expansive catalogue of course offering both on campus and at our satellite locations, Lakeland Regional is looking to attract students from both sending districts. With both academic and trade school options, Lakeland Regional is further cementing our status as a learning center where all students can pursue their interests and achieve their individual goals.
Plans are underway to create a Ninth Grade Academy here at Lakeland. Our program will help ensure a seamless transition for all of our Ninth Graders as they enter high school. Our goal is to help our students acclimate to the rigor of high school by providing them with guidance and direction during their freshman year that will help prepare them for success throughout their high school career.
In the area of facilities, we are looking to expand the use of our media center as a learning hub in our school; as well as, to complete our facilities plan to create a STEM Research Laboratory and a state of the art Health and Wellness Center for all students to access.
During the 2015-16 school year Lakeland Regional will have wireless access across our campus. New Chromebook carts will be available for student use in our classrooms and will join our current computer labs in offering students digital opportunities that will prepare them for the future.
Visitors to Lakeland immediately observe a positive climate where all students take pride in our campus. We are continually upgrading our facilities to offer our students a campus that is safe, clean, comfortable, and of which they can be proud.
Our third District Goal deals with promoting Lakeland to our local sending districts as a center for learning and a place where students can take advantage of our championship athletic programs and varied extracurricular activities. There is something for everybody here at Lakeland Regional High School.
Continued articulation with the Wanaque and Ringwood public schools will help set the tone for academic success for our incoming students. Community outreach efforts designed to improve the district image and retain high achieving students from both sending districts will continue to take place this year. We want all our students to enjoy that unique learning community that is Lakeland Regional and to actively participate in promoting "Lancer Pride" in our local communities.
