Statement from Governor Phil Murphy on Proposed Federal Farm Bill
TRENTON – Today, Governor Phil Murphy released the following statement regarding the proposed Federal Farm Bill:
"If enacted, the Farm Bill being discussed in the House could prevent tens of thousands of New Jersey families just trying to get by, and who are turning to SNAP as a matter of pure necessity, from being able to put food on their table. This latest version continues an uncomfortable trend toward heavy-handed work requirements as a damaging litmus test for vital services. I will continue to work with our entire Congressional delegation to ensure fair and equitable rules that protect both families and the viability of the SNAP program -- neither of which the proposed requirements do."
