Governor Murphy to Lead Economic Mission Trip to Germany and Israel
Trip to Promote Business Investment in New Jersey to German and Israeli-based Companies, Deepen International Economic Ties
TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy will embark on a nine-day economic mission to Germany and Israel, departing the night of October 15 and returning the afternoon of October 24, 2018. The focus of the mission is to cultivate international investment opportunities in the Garden State, as well as deepen economic, cultural, and political ties between New Jersey and the two nations.
During his tenure as U.S. Ambassador to Germany, Governor Murphy met with visiting U.S. state delegations to foster new business and economic partnerships between German and American companies. For New Jersey, the Governor believes spurring international investment will attract new business and create jobs, ensuring a stronger and fairer economy for Garden State residents.
The itinerary will encompass four days in Germany (October 16 to 20), including multiple meetings in Berlin, Hamburg, and Frankfurt. Germany is one of the leading nations in foreign direct investment in New Jersey. During the first phase of the trip, Governor Murphy’s activities and public events will include engagements with the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), the American Chamber of Commerce, offshore wind energy associations, as well as company visits and joint announcements.
Following Germany, the delegation will travel to Israel, spanning four days in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (October 20 to 24). The New Jersey-Israel relationship generates more than $1 billion in annual shared economic activity. Among the Governor’s planned activities are engagements with the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce and the Jewish Federations of New Jersey, as well as cultural visits, corporate meetings and business announcements.
Governor Murphy will head the delegation, which includes First Lady Tammy Murphy, Choose New Jersey CEO Jose Lozano, and other senior Administration and Choose New Jersey officials.
Media interested in accompanying Governor Murphy to Germany and/or Israel should RSVP to Mahen Gunaratna and Dan Bryan by Friday, October 5.
