How to Report HAIs

The NJ Department of Health has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to collect information on health care associated infections (HAIs) in New Jersey. The data is collected through the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN).

Hospitals and all other facilities that report HAIs need to enroll in the NHSN before they submit their data.

Report Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs)

Under state law, New Jersey hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) are required to submit data to the New Jersey Department of Health on healthcare-associated infections. The Department is required to review and analyze this data, and report the results in New Jersey's annual Hospital Performance Report. HAI data from ASCs will be publicly reported when its volume becomes high enough to warrant reliable reporting.
