NJ Health Commissioner Competes in Cooking Competition Launching Virtua’s Mobile Farmers’ Market

On Saturday, April 29 New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Cathleen D. Bennett, will join Al Campanella, Virtua Executive President; Former 76ers basketball star World B. Free; Camden City Council President Frank Moran and Philadelphia chef Carla Norelli as a guest chef competitor at the kickoff event for the new Virtua Mobile Farmers’ Market.

The new mobile farmers’ market will serve Camden and Burlington counties and will accept SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits and WIC (NJ Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women Infants and Children) vouchers.

The Department’s WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program works with local farmers to provide locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs to New Jersey’s women, infants, children, and low-income seniors while also promoting local farmers’ market. There are currently 208 authorized farmers throughout the state.

WHAT:                      The Virtua Throwdown is a cooking competition between five VIPS, to be judged by a panel of children. There will be activities for children and the audience will be able to sample free samples of each dish and tour the new Mobile Farmers Market
