Yellow Ribbon program Participant
Proportion of tuition & fee costs and number of vets to be served:

Monmouth will cover up to 50% of the difference between the cost of attendance at the designated state institution and the cost of tuition and fees at Monmouth. For the 2009-10 academic year we have funding for 20 students; the number of students will be re-evaluated.

Services Available:

  • Faculty and staff trained in understanding/recognizing the specific needs/concerns of past & current military personnel
  • Analysis of college credits earned at another institution
  • Orientation program
  • Campus housing
  • Adaptive learning techniques (special needs)
  • Admissions and/or financial aid staff aware of the passage of the new Post 911 GI Bill
  • Financial aid/tuition assistance
  • Scholarship assistance specifically designated for veterans
  • Academic advising
  • Tutoring services
  • Career planning/career services
  • Veterans' clubs/student lounge or designated gathering place
  • Student health services related to post-traumatic stress disorder, or traumatic brain injury
  • A policy regarding tuition refunds for military activations and deployments
  • Course withdrawals as a result of military activations and deployments

College credits may be awarded for:

  • College course work at another institution
  • Evaluated credit awards for military training
  • Evaluated credit award for military occupational training
  • National testing program
  • Evaluated credit for corporate testing programs, as recommended by the ACE guide to the Evaluation of Corporate Training
  • Portfolio review or assessment
  • Challenge examinations or test-out procedures
