DDD/DDS Partnership for Information and Referral Services
At this time, DDS I & R Specialists remain the primary contact for some adults registered with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) who are living in the community, either independently or with their families, and can benefit from information regarding insurance, benefits, transportation, education, future employment and available resources that are provided by organizations other than DDD.
HOW CAN AN I & R SPECIALIST HELP?
An Information and Referral Specialist can help by:
- Answering questions about available services at all levels of government and in the non-profit community
- Identifying available resources and services and providing contact information
- Troubleshooting obstacles and barriers to obtaining services
- Assisting individuals and families to “navigate” the human service system
- Making direct referrals to DDD for family support services such as respite, camp, assistive technology, home and vehicle modifications
- Triaging calls to identify when an individual’s circumstances or situation may require transfer back to DDD and making that transfer process as seamless as possible
