On January 1, 2006, a new federal government program under Medicare began offering prescription drug coverage for the first time to everyone who has Medicare Part A and/or Part B. This coverage, known as Part D, is provided through private companies whose plans are approved by Medicare.

New Jersey's Department of Human Services has included information on its website to help beneficiaries of the Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled program (PAAD) and Senior Gold Prescription Discount program (Senior Gold) and their caregivers learn more about Medicare Part D and its interaction with these two programs.
The PAAD program continues to provide state-funded prescription assistance to nearly 118,000 New Jersey residents. Learn more.

Senior Gold
The Senior Gold program continues to provide state-funded prescription assistance to nearly 18,000 New Jersey residents. Learn more.

Your friends and loved ones who are currently PAAD or Senior Gold beneficiaries continue to be provided with state-funded prescription assistance. You can get information here to help PAAD and Senior Gold beneficiaries make decisions about Medicare prescription drug coverage and to learn what they need to do to use their state prescription benefits.
