ATLANTIC CITY, November 5, 2010 – Matthew P. McDermott, Chief of Staff of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, addressed nearly 200 members of the Garden State Employment and Training Association (GSETA). McDermott was the keynote speaker at the closing session of the 28th Annual GSETA Conference in Atlantic City.

Chief of Staff McDermott presented the GSETA, Sharon Dutra Memorial Star Awards to the 2010 winners. Star Awards are presented annually to recognize individuals who have used New Jersey’s One-Stop Career Center System and who overcame serious barriers to succeed and excel personally and professionally.

McDermott highlighted the Christie Administration’s commitment to New Jersey’s workforce development system and efforts to maintain the Garden State’s well-educated and highly-skilled workforce.

GSETA, a statewide not-for-profit organization for workforce development professionals, provides leadership and promotes innovation to advance New Jersey’s workforce development system, its customers and professionals.
