NEWARK, Oct. 28__Richard Constable, the deputy commissioner of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD), spoke of entrepreneurial programs offered by the state as the New Jersey Social Innovation Institute was launched recently at the New Jersey Social Enterprise Summit.

The goal of the Institute is to promote social entrepreneurship, which integrates social and environmental problem solving and social goals into its core enterprise model. The institute is being launched through federal funds and the resources of the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development at Rutgers Business School, PSEG, the Support Center for Nonprofit Management and the LWD.

The kick-off was held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, where Deputy Constable explained how LWD recently launched four other programs around the state that are designed to mentor individuals who want to establish a self-owned business.
