Labor Commissioner Joins Essex County Executive to Kick Off Annual Spring Job

NEWARK, N.J., May 21, 2015 – The Christie Administration’s ongoing efforts to provide opportunities to match employers looking for talent with job-seekers continued at the Essex County Spring Job Fair held on the campus of Essex County College today.
Commissioner Harold J. Wirths of the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development joined Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. and other local partners to kick off the annual event which included more than 150 companies and recruiters and more than 1,500 job-seekers.
“Partnerships are important for successfully getting people employed,” said Commissioner Wirths. “These cooperative efforts go a long way in assisting employers in our major industries recruit the talent they need to grow and prosper which helps everyone in the state. Essex County has continued to work with my department on many employment projects and we look forward to continuing that partnership.”
The job fair was open to all New Jersey residents and participants also had an opportunity to receive health screenings, meet with representatives about foreclosure and homelessness prevention, heating and rental assistance and much more.
