JJC's Fairbanks receives 2006 Distinguished Leadership Award

PRINCETON - Rosanne Fairbanks of Hamilton Township, Mercer County, recently received the Association of Government Accountant's (AGA) 2006 Distinguished Leadership Award. She is the first woman to receive the AGA's top honor. Fairbanks is employed as the New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission's (JJC) Director of Administration. The award was presented at Roman Hall in Trenton.

AGA serves government accountability professionals by providing quality educational opportunities, fostering professional development and certification, and supporting standards and research to advance government accountability. AGA's Distinguished Leadership Award is awarded to those who have provided sustained and outstanding leadership in financial management, resulting in notable contributions to the delivery of government services.

Fairbanks was appointed the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the JJC in April, 2003.Prior to accepting this position, she served as the Chief Fiscal Officer. The award recognizes Fairbank's leadership in spearheading the JJC's efforts to return the provision of health care services for juveniles to state oversight. Formerly, health care services for juveniles residing in secure JJC facilities were delivered through a contractual agreement.

"As Executive Director of the New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission, I rely on Rosanne Fairbank's financial expertise every day," said Howard L. Beyer, Executive Director. "Her colleagues can attest not only to her ability, but to her dedication to public service. She is truly an asset to the JJC."

Fairbanks began her career at the Division of Motor Vehicles in 1978 working in the Budget and Accounting Office. In 1995, she accepted an appointment with the Attorney General's Office to help establish the newly formed JJC.

Fairbanks serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Law and Public Safety Credit Union. Fairbanks is a graduate of the College of New Jersey. She and her husband live in Hamilton Square and are the parents of three children.
