Governor Elect Observes Veterans Day
Senator Jon Corzine, the Governor-elect of New Jersey, was the keynote speaker at the annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery Nov. 11.

Senator Corzine spoke about the importance of Veterans Day and the debt the country owed its veterans. Following his speech Senator Corzine and Maj. Gen. Glenn K. Rieth presented the Bronze Star Medal for Valor to Gunners Mate First Class Harry Bataille for his service in World War II.

The Cemetery Advisory Council also held a flag retirement ceremony wherein the ashes of 2,450 American Flags were buried on the grounds of the cemetery chapel. The Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, dedicated in 1986, is the only state-operated veterans’ cemetery.
