Last Day for February REAL ID Walk-Ins

TRENTON – New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Chief Administrator Sue Fulton reminds customers that today is the last day in February for New Jersey customers whose licenses/IDs are expiring within three months to get a REAL ID without an appointment.

As announced earlier this month, qualifying customers can bring all their documents for REAL ID to participating Motor Vehicle agencies and get a REAL ID on a walk-in basis, but only from the 5th to the 20th each month. Walk-ins are available today, February 20, and will be available again starting March 5.

Chief Fulton strongly encouraged customers to check REALIDNJ.com before heading to an agency.

“We don’t want to turn anyone away and the best way for customers to ensure they have the required documents to get a REAL ID is to visit REALIDNJ.com,” said Chief Fulton. “Customers should use the tools and explainers there to make sure they have a successful visit to the MVC.”

Customers whose licenses or IDs are not expiring within the next three months and are interested in acquiring a REAL ID should sign up for a REAL ID appointment at REALIDNJ.com.

REAL ID is the federally mandated identification that puts in place stricter federal security standards for driver licenses and IDs. Passengers will need a REAL ID to fly domestically in the U.S. as of October 1, 2020; unless a valid U.S. passport or another federally approved form of identification is used.
