Extensions Announced for HAZMAT Endorsements

TRENTON – The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) today announced the expiration dates for all valid Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) endorsements have been extended again.

HAZMAT endorsements due for renewal between April 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020 are extended for 180 days. HAZMAT endorsements due for renewal between July 1, 2020 and October 29, 2020 are extended to December 31, 2020.

HAZMAT endorsements that expired prior to March 1, 2020 are not extended.

All HAZMAT endorsement holders eligible for this extension must hold a valid CDL and initiate the process to renew their security threat assessment no later than 60 days before the extended HAZMAT endorsement expiration date.

The HAZMAT extensions have been authorized by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) and follow expiration date extensions announced by the MVC last week for commercial driver licenses (CDLs), commercial learner permits (CLPs), and medical certifications for valid CDL and CLP holders.
