CUSTOMER ADVISORY

South Plainfield and Wayne MVC Centers Closed, Appointment-Only Service Resumes Nov. 13

TRENTON – The South Plainfield and Wayne Licensing Centers have been closed for cleaning today and both Centers will reopen tomorrow, November 13, for appointment-only service, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission has announced.

The MVC has confirmed that, at each location, a Saturday-only employee tested positive for COVID-19. At both locations, the employee who tested positive was last in the Center on Saturday, November 7.

Due to necessary staff quarantines, the South Plainfield and Wayne Licensing Centers will be appointment-only until Monday, November 23. No walk-ins will be allowed.

The South Plainfield and Wayne Licensing Centers again will be closed on Saturday, November 14, and Saturday, November 21, as Saturday employees are required to quarantine. Regular Saturday service will resume at both locations Saturday, November 28.

Additionally, due to shortage of staff, the Freehold Licensing Center will be appointment-only again this Saturday, November 14. No walk-ins will be allowed.

Currently, seven other MVC Centers remain closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19. These Centers are listed as follows, and will reopen on the corresponding dates:

  • Oakland Licensing Center – reopens Friday, November 13
  • Paterson Regional/Licensing Center – reopens Saturday, November 14
  • Cherry Hill Vehicle Center – reopens Monday, November 16
  • Runnemede Vehicle Center – reopens Thursday, November 19
  • Trenton Regional/Vehicle Center – reopens Friday, November 20
  • Eatontown Regional/Licensing Center – reopens Friday, November 20
  • Bayonne Licensing Center – reopens Tuesday, November 24

Upon closure due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19, MVC Centers are cleaned and remain closed until contact tracers have cleared enough employees to reopen or any required quarantine is complete.

Customers should always log on to NJMVC.gov before heading out to an MVC facility. At the website, customers can find basic information on MVC operations, check the latest updates and status of MVC locations, complete transactions like license and registration renewals online, and schedule appointments for select vehicle and license transactions.
