TRENTON – The Paterson Regional/Licensing Center, Cherry Hill Vehicle Center, Trenton Regional/Vehicle Center, and Camden Licensing Center have been closed due to a single employee testing positive for COVID-19 at each location.
The Paterson, Trenton, and Camden Centers will reopen Friday, Feb. 5. At each of these three locations, the single employee who tested positive was last in the facility Thursday, Jan. 21.
Cherry Hill will reopen Wednesday, Feb. 3, and the employee who tested positive was last there Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Due to the closure of Trenton Regional, IRP and IFTA walk-in services will be unavailable until Feb. 5.
The following MVC Centers will reopen after full COVID-19 cleaning and the completion of staff quarantine. They had to close because an employee tested positive for COVID-19 at each location. These Centers are scheduled to reopen on the following dates:

MVC Online
Many customers can skip the trip to the MVC by going online. Nearly 30 different Motor Vehicle Commission services and transactions are available for customers online at NJMVC.gov. This includes most basic license and registration renewals and replacements.
Over the last two months, more than 85% of standard license renewals and 95% of vehicle registration renewals were completed without an MVC visit.
MVC In-Person
Walk-ins are only allowed for first time licenses/IDs/permits, name changes, and red decals at Licensing Centers. Other MVC transactions that can’t be completed online require an appointment that customers schedule at NJMVC.gov.
Scheduling an Appointment
Appointments at Licensing and Vehicle Centers must be scheduled at NJMVC.gov. Additional appointments are being added daily, overnight, and up to 60 days in advance. Customers should check multiple MVC locations online after midnight to best secure an appointment.
Appointment Cancellations
If a customer can’t make a scheduled appointment, it should be canceled using the guidance in the confirmation email sent by the MVC upon booking, in order to open the appointment for others.
Any appointments canceled due to an MVC location COVID closure must be rescheduled on the website. Customers will be notified by email when their appointment has been canceled.
Renewals
License/ID and registration renewals that can’t be completed online require an appointment. Renewals are not available on a walk-in basis.
Before all MVC appointments or walk-in visits, customers should log on to NJMVC.gov to check whether the location might be closed because of an employee testing positive for COVID-19. The MVC has 39 agencies throughout the state, divided into 23 Licensing Centers and 16 Vehicle Centers.
Customers can complete many transactions online, schedule appointments, and find out more about MVC operations on the website. Customers can also identify whether a license or vehicle transaction is available online, by appointment, or by walk-in using the “How do I…? Cheat Sheet” in the Quick Links menu on the home page. |
