NJ Human Services, AG’s Office & Motor Vehicle Commission to Announce Efforts to Facilitate Successful Interactions between Law Enforcement & Residents with Autism & Communication Disorders

TRENTON — Human Services, the Attorney General’s Office and the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) will announce new efforts to assist law enforcement during interactions with individuals who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or a communication disorder.

WHAT: Human Services, the AG’s Office and the MVC will release new communication guidance for law enforcement, and unveil the new voluntary designation that individuals who have ASD or a communication disorder can request on their driver’s licenses or non-driver IDs to facilitate successful communication between law enforcement and people who have these diagnoses.
