Proposed New Rule - Title to Vehicles Abandoned on Private Property

The Motor Vehicle Commission has proposed new rules, Title to Vehicles Abandoned On Private Property.  The proposal new rules establish the procedure required to sell a vehicle abandoned on private property at public auction and subsequently transfer title to the vehicle pursuant to the statutory authority found at N.J.S.A. 39:4-56.6.

The proposed new rules are published in the October 2, 2017 issue of the New Jersey Register.  Copies of the proposal may be obtained on the MVC website, www.njmvc.gov; by mail or in person from the Motor Vehicle Commission, 225 East State Street, 9th Floor – East Wing, P.O. Box 162, Trenton, New Jersey 08666-0162; or requested by telephone at (609) 777-1407.
