|
The New Jersey State Police Polygraph Unit cordially invites you to attend
our first New Jersey State Police Advanced
Interviewing and Interrogation Seminar to be held on the historic campus
of Princeton University.
The seminar is designed to meet the needs of police investigators whose
assignments include conducting interviews and interrogation during the
course of a criminal investigation. Topics of discussion include techniques
utilized by polygraph examiners to determine truthfulness and elicit confessions,
statement analysis, cognitive interviewing, developing interrogation themes,
case studies, and legal issues concerning custodial interrogations.
History
In 1952, the New Jersey State Police formed the Polygraph Unit, the
first of its kind on the Eastern seaboard. Since that time,
the Polygraph Unit has been conducting examinations for any
law enforcement agency in the State who requests assistance.
Due to overwhelming requests for training in the areas of interviewing
and interrogation, the Unit developed an Interview and Interrogation
Course in 1989. The course was so well received it quickly
became the most sought after training offered by the New
Jersey State Police.
In an effort to expand this training and bring the best speakers in
the field of interviewing and interrogation to New Jersey,
the Polygraph Unit has organized the First NJSP Advanced Interviewing
and Interrogation Seminar.
