Troopers Arrest Elizabeth Music Teacher for the Distribution of Child Pornography
Edison, N.J. - An investigation by the New Jersey State Police Digital Technology Investigations Unit,
Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) has led to arrest of a music teacher from Elizabeth for downloading
and sharing child pornography from his home computer.
The 5-month investigation focused on the alleged sharing of videos and images of child pornography by Ronald Scott,
61, of Edison, a music teacher in the Elizabeth school district. On Friday, January 24, detectives executed a court
authorized search warrant at Scott’s residence recovering, two desk top computers, two external hard drives, and multiple
computer discs. A preliminary examination of the seized computer equipment revealed numerous videos and images of child
pornography.
Scott was taken into custody at his residence in Edison and charged with Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography.
He was lodged in the Middlesex County Jail in default of $50,000 cash bail. As a condition of bail, Scott was
prohibited from contact with anyone under the age of 18 years old.
The case will be prosecuted by the Division of Criminal Justice under the Office of the Attorney General.
The Edison Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office also assisted with this investigation.
