State Police Seeks the Public’s Help With Murder Investigation
Fairfield Township, N.J. - New Jersey State Police detectives from the Major Crime Unit and
Bridgeton Station are seeking the public’s help with the homicide investigation of Jennifer Cruz-Chavez,
37, of Bridgeton, N.J.
On Sunday, August 24, at approximately 4:35 p.m., troopers responded to Buckshutem Road in the area
of milepost 4 for the report of a body being discovered by hunters in a wooded area located just off of the
roadway. The victim was pronounced deceased at 6:26 p.m. before being taken to Shore Memorial Hospital in
Somers Point, N.J.
On Monday, August, 25, Doctor Ian Hood of the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office conducted a post
mortem examination of the victim. He determined the manner of death to be homicide as a result of multiple blunt
force trauma.
