  Prosecutors Supervision and Training Bureau
The Prosecutors Supervision and Training Bureau performs the administrative and programmatic duties to fulfill the Attorney General’s statutory mandate to exercise general supervisory authority over each of the twenty-one County Prosecutors’ offices and their respective local police departments. In this capacity, the Bureau coordinates the implementation of statewide law enforcement initiatives and mandates, provides analysis concerning proposed legislation of importance to law enforcement, and provides legal advice and training to members of the law enforcement community on a variety of police, prosecutorial and law enforcement management related issues.  The Bureau also performs a number of supervisory functions, such as performing periodic office and program management reviews, gathering information concerning various law enforcement functions, maintaining guidelines for internal affairs operations within law enforcement agencies and overseeing expenditures and management of forfeiture funds by law enforcement agencies.
The Training component of this Bureau consists of two entities, the Division of Criminal Justice Academy and the Police Training Commission. The Academy conducts a wide range of in-service and pre-service training programs for the state’s law enforcement community.  The Police Training Commission staff, under the authority of the Police Training Act, is responsible for the development and certification of basic training courses for the state’s law enforcement community, as well as several instructor development courses. Training courses are revised and updated on an ongoing basis as necessitated by legislation, court decisions, and advances in technology and the state of knowledge regarding law enforcement practices.
