  1. What is the Self-Exclusion Program?
    The program was established in 2001 to allow people with a gambling problem to voluntarily exclude themselves from gambling in all Atlantic City casinos.

    In 2013, the program was expanded to also include self-exclusion for Internet gaming activities.

  2. If I am currently on the self-exclusion list do I need to sign up for self-exclusion for Internet gaming too?

    If you are currently on the self-exclusion list you are are automatically excluded from Internet gaming activities.

  3. How do I get placed on the self-exclusion list(s)?
    There are various options for the New Jersey Casino Gambling Self-Exclusion Program which includes self-exclusion from Atlantic City Casino Facilities including Internet gaming activities or for Internet gaming only.

    Option 1: In Person - Self-exclusion from all casino gaming activities located in Atlantic City casinos AND from all Internet (online) gambling sites. Minimum self-exclusion periods are one year, five years or lifetime.

    Option 2: In Person - Self-exclusion from all Internet gaming activities. Minimum self-exclusion periods are one year, five years or lifetime.

    Option 3: Online Player Account - Self-exclusion from all Internet gaming activities with signup through your online player account. Minimum self-exclusion periods are one year or five years.

    Option 4: Online from DGE web site - Self-exclusion from all Internet gaming activities with registration from the DGE web site (https://www.njportal.com/dge/selfexclusion). Minimum self-exclusion periods are one year or five years.

    IN PERSON means that you must go to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement office at Tennessee Ave. and Boardwalk in Atlantic City or by visiting the offices of the New Jersey Racing Commission during business hours. When you file the form, you will be required to provide identification and you will be photographed. Click for a copy of the self-exclusion application.

  4. Can I just mail back the completed application?
    No. You must submit it in person. This is for your own protection.

  5. Can I place a family member with a gambling problem on the list?
    No. You cannot place anyone else on the self-exclusion list. Placement on the list is entirely voluntary and must be done by the individual seeking exclusion.

  6. What will happen after I sign up for self-exclusion?
    For land-based casinos, the Division will distribute a photograph and description of you to each casino. The casinos will then remove you from any mailing lists and make notations in their computer files that you are ineligible for any kind of credit or complimentary service.

    For Internet gaming activities, the Division will distribute information filed through your player account or provided on your self-exclusion application for Internet Gaming to each casino licensed Internet gaming permit holder.

    Some casino companies have enacted responsible gaming programs by which they also might exclude you from their properties in other jurisdictions.

  7. What will happen if I try to gamble in a casino while I am on the list?
    After you are placed on the list, a casino or Internet gaming site will refuse to accept your wagers. If you are caught gambling at a casino or on an Internet gaming site, you will be subject to forfeiture of any winnings, including any chips, tokens, or electronic gaming device credits in your possession, and you will be escorted from the gaming floor or removed from the Internet gaming site.

  8. Suspension of Credit Privileges
    If you are not ready to take the step of placing yourself on the self-exclusion list, but do not want to be permitted to gamble on credit, you may voluntarily suspend your credit privileges at all Atlantic City casinos by submitting a written request to the Division.

    You must make such a request in person a the Division's office at Tennessee Ave. and Boardwalk in Atlantic City. You have to show some form of identification that either includes a photograph or a physical description.  Once the Division receives such a request, it will add your name to the credit suspension list and notify each of the casinos.
