Mission Statement
The TSB assures the integrity of electronic gaming equipment used in the State of New Jersey. Electronic gaming equipment includes progressive systems, slot monitoring systems, bill changers, kiosks, electronic table games, count room equipment, voucher systems, and other hardware and software.
The primary functions of the TSB are broken down into the following areas:
Testing of Gaming Equipment - All prototypes and modifications must be tested and approved by the TSB before they can be used in a casino. TSB Engineers test and evaluate gaming equipment for functionality, integrity, and compliance with New Jersey regulations. TSB Statisticians evaluate the odds, payout percentages, and fairness of new casino games.
Inspection of Gaming Equipment - Engineers and Analysts inspect gaming equipment to ensure that no system or slot machine goes live without the DGE verifying that it contains a true copy of an approved program. Once inspected, critical components are sealed by TSB personnel to ensure the software is not compromised after it has been installed and verified.
Jackpot Verification - TSB Analysts verify slot machine software each time a jackpot is won in excess of $75,000.
Slot Machine Tracking - The Division ensures the proper accounting of all slot machines during the time they are used or stored in the State of New Jersey.
