Proposal
Summary:
The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights
proposes to readopt, with amendments, its
rules pertaining to the New Jersey Family
Leave Act. The rules address implementation
and enforcement of the Family Leave Act,
which entitles most employees in the State
to a maximum of 12 weeks of family leave
from employment during a 24-month period
to provide care needed for the birth or
adoption of a child, or for the serious
health condition of a child, parent or spouse.
Upon readoption, the Division proposes amendments
to make the rules more consistent with rules
promulgated under the federal Family and
Medical Leave Act, in order to simplify
compliance for employers covered by both
laws. The proposed readoption appears in
the November 6, 2006 edition of the New
Jersey Register.

A summary of the proposed readoption with
amendments is posted on the New Jersey Division
